Self Portrait
Self Portrait | Spring 2007
This project started out with every student in studio writing a Valentine's Day Card for everyone (as I'm sure you guessed, Valentine's day was nearing). The task was then to find some way to organize the information in a meaningful and clear manner. The final product was printed out 6ft wide by 2.5ft tall. Above are highlights of my poster. Book of objects
Book of objects | Fall 2007
This book was an exploration of how a story could be crafted around a seemingly random set of objects. Another challenge for this project was the interplay of the micro and macro design of the book. Each page needed to feel a part of the design language of the overall book, and yet still needed to be unique and interesting. To view the entire book, please click here.

Forte
Forte: MHCI Capstone Project | Spring and Summer 2008
Working with a team of 3 other Masters of Human-Computer Interaction students and an outside client, we design and implemented a working prototype of an enterprise-level information sharing solution. This project was geared towards addressing the needs of the incoming millennial working generation. To learn more about the project, please visit forte.allisongallant.com.
Sound, type, and image
Sound + Type + Image | Spring 2007
The goal of this project was to explore how type, sound, and image can add different layers of meaning to the overall message. I started by locating a podcast that had a parody on some Homeland Security policies. I then used both type and image to pose conflicting comments on the message. Interact
Interact! | Fall 2007
The focus of this design was to incite innovative interaction with the user while defending a opinion. I decided to attempt to argue from the perspective of "The Flat Earth Society" (a group of individuals who are still convinced that the Earth is flat). We were constrained to using only typography in our designs. Unfortunately, I do not currently have an interactive version of this piece online, but you can view a screen capture of someone exploring the design by clicking here.
iMix
iMix | Fall 2007
For this project, I worked in a team with four other designers. We were given the task of trying to design a audio mixing application for the iPhone. After a lot of exploration and iteration, we came up with "iMix". You can view our final presentation by clicking here.
BusWay
BusWay | Spring 2007
Given the constraint of designing something for a touch screen interface, I created BusWay -- a touchscreen kiosk to assist users in locating the correct bus routes for their trip. To experience the intearctive piece, please click here.
HardDrive
How Harddrives work | Spring 2008
After studying different ways in which people learn information, we were given the task to teach something that is normally taught in a dry and analytical manner, and create a lesson plan and materials that presents the information in a new and innovative way. I decided to teach my classmates how harddrives work. I took a visual and interactive approach. To view my pdf presentation, please click here. To experience the intearctive game, please click here.

Kinetic Quote
Kinetic Quote | Fall 2006
This was one of my first explorations into the world of typography in motion. We were randomly assigned a quote, and after practicing performing the quote outloud were instructed to create a kinetic typography piece that captured the tone and rhythm. View the final design by clicking here.

Newspaper
Newspaper | Spring 2008
Prompted by the goal of visually illustrating the recontextualization of an object, I chose to display two extreme uses of a newspaper.
Snow White
Snow White | Fall 2006
These photographs are an visual exploration into the tale of Snow White. I wanted to play around with the concept of having the same person represent all of the diverse characters in the story. As it is a fairy job, I wanted the feel of the final pieces to be almost surreal.
Stranger
Stranger | Fall 2006
This piece is my response both to the rhythmic themes and underlying meanings of the song "People are Strange" by The Doors.
Lamp
Paper Lamp | Spring 2006
This lamp is created by hand out of bristol cardstock. It was an exploration into how lighting affects your perception of an object.
